This group is appropriate for any parent of a LGB person who may have asked any of the following questions…

  • Why is my child gay, lesbian, or bisexual?

  • Will I ever learn to deal with this new knowledge?

  • Is my child different now?

  • Why did he or she have to tell us?

  • Why didn’t our child tell us before?

  • Why am I uncomfortable with his or her sexuality?

  • How can I support my child?

We invite you to join us. You may discover that others are grappling with the same challenges!

GLBT Domestic Violence
GLBT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE  is a pattern of violent or coercive behaviors perpetrated by
a gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered person using force and intimidation to exert control over his/her partner's thoughts, beliefs, or conduct.

Types of abuse may include;
* Physical

* Sexual
* Emotional/Verbal/Psychological

* Financial
* Medical
* Social Isolation

If you are a current victim of abuse or a survivor, remember you are not alone. The majority of GLBT people do not report instances of domestic violence because of the perceived feelings of inadequacy, fear of rejection, or because they fear the potential reprecussions if their partner were to find out. All these fears are valid, but now is the time to get help.

Join the Unfinished: GLBT Domestic Violence Support group for weekly discussions, positive feedback, and be assured that confidentiality is of extreme importance.

The group meets for 12 weeks. Weekly meetings are held for 1 1/2 hours at an undisclosed location.

All group members are required to complete an assessment before starting the group. Group members will also have access to an individual therapist to help process and cope with the domestic violence in an one on one format.

Call us at 770-222-6622/678-943-0804 or email the facilitator at djburrwelborn@aol.com for more information.
